Shinyo International Group Limited is a hallmark name for the group of companies (the first one founded over 40 years) that formed part of many successful shipping joint venture projects spearheaded by industry veteran Mr. Fred Cheng. In 2016, Shinyo Group opened a new office in Hong Kong where our local team of dedicated professionals, in the spirit of Shinyo – “New Dawn”, work closely under a common vision to ensure each shipping asset within the group’s portfolio is strategically invested, operated and managed to achieve the best returns amongst her peers.
Founder
The founder, Mr. Fred Cheng is a second generation ship-owner who founded his first ship owning company at the young age of twenty-seven. He has transacted more than 200 vessels through over 40 years of ship owning & management experience with a proven track record and an expertise in long term charter and JV with leading Asian & European-based charterers (such as Sinochem Group, Cosco, LDC, Oldendorff), including successfully negotiated dry bulk charters of up to 15 years. His unmatched insight in correctly predicting dry bulk and tanker trends through multiple cycles had generated an IRR of over 35% and the sale & purchase of 19 VLCC vessels in a joint venture, Vanship, co-founded by him and the late Captain Vandeperre in 2001. He has been an ABS and Bureau Veritas Committee Member for over 30 years and was a Board Member of The Swedish Club between 2010 – 2016.
